The name Exogenic Breaks might lead one to think that we are about smashing up and breaking records. Fat Beat Sound System was founded in the early nineties to slow down. Starting as a hundred percent improvised quartet with two dj:s and two horns the band slowly developed into a Fat rhythm machine.

As a live band the Fat Beat Sound System has become known as people who eat, even on stage and the guest musicians, they eat too. The idea of serving food to the musicians was originally developed to prevent anyone from playing too much.

The players are active in many different projects so Fat Beat Sound System has become a sofa, a resting place for the members. This you can definitely hear on the debut album Fala Fala. The songs are usually conceived by the whole group together, that is why the sound is so organic. This is a live band. And remember, the fatter the safer!
